Privacy Policy for Kindness Krewe

Kindness Krewe respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Kindness Krewe mobile app collects, how that information is used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Kindness Krewe is designed to help you remember people, important dates, reminders, and handwritten note ideas. The app may store the following information that you choose to enter or import:

  • Names of people you add to the app

  • Relationships

  • Mailing addresses

  • Birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates

  • Notes you write about a person

  • Card or kindness-action history

  • Optional phone numbers and email addresses

  • Optional contact photos or photo references

  • Saved writing prompts

  • Reminder information

  • App preferences and settings

You may also choose to import selected contacts from your device. If you grant Contacts permission, Kindness Krewe may read contact names, birthdays, phone numbers, email addresses, mailing addresses, and contact images so you can choose which people to add to the app.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information stored in the app to provide the app's core features, including:

  • Helping you keep a personal list of people you want to remember

  • Showing birthdays, anniversaries, and other reminders

  • Helping you track cards or notes you have sent

  • Saving your app preferences and writing prompts

  • Allowing you to import selected contacts from your device

  • Allowing you to back up and restore your app data

Kindness Krewe does not use your personal contact list for advertising or marketing.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored

The personal information you enter or import into Kindness Krewe is stored locally on your device.

The app does not require an account to use its core features, and the app is not designed to upload your personal people/contact list to Kindness Krewe servers.

Kindness Krewe may download shared app content, such as writing prompts, monthly themes, or shop links, from a configured online source. This content sync is used to update app-provided content and is not intended to send your personal contact list or people data to that source.

4. Contacts Permission

Contacts access is optional. Kindness Krewe asks for Contacts permission only so you can quickly import people you want to write to.

If you grant Contacts permission, the app may display contacts from your device and let you select which ones to import. Contacts are not automatically added without your selection.

You can disable Contacts access at any time in your device settings.

5. Calendar and Reminder Permissions

Kindness Krewe may request calendar or reminder permissions if you choose features that import birthdays, anniversaries, or reminder-related information. These permissions are used only to support reminder and important-date features inside the app.

You can disable calendar or reminder access at any time in your device settings.

6. Photos, Files, and Backups

Kindness Krewe may allow you to choose photos, documents, or backup files from your device. These features are optional.

The app may let you:

  • Associate a photo reference with a person

  • Export a backup of your Kindness Krewe data using your device's share options

  • Restore a backup from a JSON or text file you select

When you export or share a backup, you control where that backup is sent or saved. A backup may contain the people, reminders, notes, prompts, and settings stored in the app.

7. Face ID, Touch ID, or Device Authentication

Kindness Krewe may use local device authentication, such as Face ID or similar device security features, to unlock certain admin settings. Biometric information is handled by your device operating system and is not collected or stored by Kindness Krewe.

8. Third-Party Services

Kindness Krewe may use third-party technology or services to operate the app, including:

  • Expo and React Native libraries

  • Device storage and permission systems

  • Optional shared content syncing from a configured online source, such as Supabase

  • Your device's share sheet, contacts, calendar, reminders, photo, and document systems

These services may process technical information necessary for the app or device features to work. Kindness Krewe does not sell your personal information.

9. Children's Privacy

Kindness Krewe is intended for general audiences and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can help address the issue.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share information only in limited situations, such as:

  • When you choose to export, share, or back up your own app data

  • When required by law

  • When necessary to protect the rights, safety, or operation of the app or its users

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Your Kindness Krewe data remains on your device unless you delete it, clear app data, remove people from the app, restore a different backup, or uninstall the app.

You can delete people and app data from within the app where supported, or by removing the app from your device. You may also control permissions such as Contacts, Calendar, Photos, and Files through your device settings.

12. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information stored and used by the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device and any backups you export or share.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
