The Kindness Krewe Mobile Application

The Kindness Krewe is a monthly card-sending membership created to help you slow down, notice the people around you, and send more handwritten notes with intention.

Each month, your Kindness Krewe subscription box gives you the physical pieces you need: notecards, envelopes, stamps, and thoughtful monthly guidance. The Kindness Krewe mobile application helps you stay organized and consistent.

Inside the application:

·      you can keep track of your people

·      choose who you want to encourage each month

·      follow the monthly card challenge

·      mark cards as sent

·      build a simple history of the kindness you have shared

Getting Started: Add Your People

Before you begin using the monthly Kindness Krewe card challenge, the first step is to add people to your My People’ list. This is your database of people you send cards to on a regular basis.

Your ‘My People’ list is where you will keep the names, addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, special dates, and notes for the people you want to remember with handwritten cards.

You can add people in two ways: manually, or by selecting them from your Apple Contacts.

Adding People from Your Contacts

To begin, tap the ‘My People’ tab at the bottom of the app.

From there, expand the ‘Add Person’ section. You will see the option to add someone manually or choose Select from ‘My Contacts.’

When you select from your contacts, Apple may ask if you want to allow The Kindness Krewe application to access your contacts. Choose Yes or Allow so the application can connect to your contact list.

This does not mean every contact will automatically be added to your Kindness Krewe app. You will still be able to choose which people you want to add.

Allowing access simply makes it easier for you to return to your contacts later and add more people when you are ready.

If you do not allow contact access, you may need to change your phone’s permission settings before you can import contacts later. You can still add people manually.

What Information Will Import

When you choose someone from your contacts, the application will pull in the helpful information you need for sending cards, such as their name and mailing address.

If you already have their birthday saved in your Apple Contacts, that information will be imported as well. (The application will NOT save dates listed in your calendar with this function.)

After someone has been added to your ‘My People’ list, you can open their profile and add or update information at any time.

Adding Special Dates and Notes

Not everything has to come from your contact list.

You can manually add birthdays, anniversaries, and other meaningful dates directly to a person’s profile. You can also add custom dates, such as a loss date, retirement date, adoption day, first day of school, or any other moment you may want to remember.

There is also space to add special notes about each person.

For example, you might add:

Loves red roses.
Prefers funny cards.
Lost her mom in October.
Always appreciates encouragement.
Favorite color is blue.

These little notes can help you choose a card or write a message that feels more personal.

Viewing Your People

Under the My People tab, you can view all the people you have added to the application.

You can open each person’s profile to see their saved information, make updates, add special dates, or review notes you have written about them.

At the bottom of each person’s profile, you will also see their ‘Card Tracker.’

The Card Tracker keeps a record of the cards you have sent to that person, including the date and type of card sent. This makes it easy to look back and see when you last reached out, what kind of card you sent, and how you have been showing up for that person over time.

The ‘My People’ section is the heart of the app. It helps you remember the people who matter to you, not just as names in a contact list, but as people you want to care for on purpose.

The Krewe Page

The Krewe page is where your monthly Kindness Krewe card-sending practice begins and is the HOME page.

Each month, this page will guide you through the current Kindness Krewe theme, help you choose the six people you want to send cards to, and give you a simple way to keep track of the cards you have sent.

This Month’s Theme

At the top of the Krewe page, you will see the current monthly theme for The Kindness Krewe.

This section gives you a brief introduction to the focus for the month. The theme is meant to help you think intentionally about the people in your life and the kind of note you may want to send.

Each month will feel a little different, but the purpose will always be the same: to help you pause, notice someone, and send a few meaningful words by mail.

Monthly Card Challenge

The next section is the Monthly Card Challenge.

This is where you will find a little guidance and inspiration for choosing who to send your six cards to that month. Some months may focus on encouragement, gratitude, friendship, everyday kindness, or people who have quietly made a difference in your life.

You do not have to follow the suggestions exactly. They are there to help you begin, especially if you are not sure who to choose.

Choose Who to Encourage

After reading the monthly theme and card challenge, you can choose at least six people from your My People list.

Once you select your people for the month, their faces will appear (if their profile includes a picture) in this section so you can easily see who you have chosen. You may choose exactly six people, or you may add more if you would like to send additional cards.

This section helps you move from intention to action by naming the people you want to remember on purpose.

Card Sent Checklist

The Card Sent Checklist keeps track of the people you selected for the month.

Once you have written and sent a card, you can mark it as sent.

Simply click on the person you selected, and it will open and allow you to mark your card sent. The app will save that information to the person’s My People profile, allowing you to look back and see when you sent them a card and what type of card you sent.

This is especially helpful if you want to keep a simple record of your card-sending habit over time.

You also have the option to Skip a person for the month. This can be helpful if you change your mind, decide to send a card to someone else, or simply need to adjust your list.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is to keep showing up with kindness, one card at a time.

Using the Reminders Tab

The Reminders tab is designed to help you remember the important dates connected to your people, so you do not miss the moments that matter.

Under Gentle Reminders, you will see upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, custom dates, and other events you have added to your My People profiles. Your reminders are organized by month, and you can view a full 12-month list inside the app.

To see the reminders for a specific month, simply tap the month to expand it. You will then see the date, the person’s name, and the event connected to that person.

When you tap on a person listed in your reminders, you will have a few options. You can open their profile, mark a card as sent, or mark the reminder as skipped.

If you mark a card as sent or skipped, that information will be saved to the person’s profile under their Card Sent history. This allows you to keep track of when you reached out, what type of card you sent, or when you chose to skip sending a card.

The Kindness Krewe also adds special days and holidays to your reminder list; like National Best Friend Day, Valentine’s Day, and other special days. These are just special days and other ways that we can show up for people.

Add a One-Time Reminder

The Reminders tab also allows you to add a one-time reminder manually.

This is helpful for moments that may not be connected to anyone in your My People list but are still something you want to remember. For example, you may want to remind yourself to send a sympathy card, thank-you note, encouragement card, welcome card, or another special note to someone special.

These dates are usually one-time reminders for something that has come up.

One-time reminders will appear in your reminder list along with your other reminders. They will also follow the same notification timing, so if notifications are turned on, you will receive a reminder 7 days before the event and again on the day of the event.

If the one-time reminder is connected to someone in your My People list, the card information can also be saved to that person’s profile when marked as sent or skipped.

Notifications must be allowed in your phone settings for these reminders to appear.

The Reminders tab helps you stay thoughtful without having to rely on memory alone. It gives you a gentle nudge at just the right time, so remembering someone with a card feels simple, intentional, and doable.

Using the Words Tab

The Words tab is there to help you begin when you know you want to send a card, but you are not quite sure what to say.

Inside this tab, you will find different card-sending categories based on the reason you may be reaching out. These categories are meant to help you quickly find words that match the kind of card you want to send, whether it is encouragement, gratitude, sympathy, celebration, friendship, or another thoughtful moment.

There are currently seven categories included in the app. Beneath each category, you will find Words to Help You Get Started: simple phrases, message ideas, and gentle prompts you can use inside your card.

These words are not meant to be copied perfectly unless they feel right to you. They are there to help you begin. You can use them as written, change them to sound more like you, or let them inspire your own message.

The wording in this section will be updated periodically so the ideas stay fresh and helpful over time.

The Words tab will also include special holiday wording throughout the year. These holiday sections will give you ideas for what to write in cards for meaningful seasons, special occasions, and holidays.

At the bottom of the Words tab, you will also find a section that connects you to our shop. This makes it easy to purchase cards when you need them, so you always have something thoughtful on hand when it is time to send a note.

The Words tab is designed to take away the pressure of finding the perfect words and help you begin with honest ones.
